HOW TO GET YOUR MOVE COMPLETED IN record TIME

9/8/2012

Moving Day
So your moving day has finally arrived.Your boxes are packed, your furniture has been disassembled and wrapped, and your movers are booked and ready to roll. Now what? There are plenty of things that you can do to ensure that your move is completed quickly and error free.
  1. Be Prepared - Be certain that everything you want to be loaded onto the truck/pod is completely prepared and ready to be loaded when the movers arrive. Although your movers will generally arrive with all of the necessary materials to properly pack and protect your belonging; doing so will slow your movers down and since most moving companies charge an hourly rate, it could mean a higher bill to pay if your move takes longer that your allotted time period.
  2. Label Everything - Labeling all of your moving boxes and furniture will speed your move up tremendously. Your movers will take longer if they have to lift things more that once because they were placed in the wrong room. However, proper labeling will ensure that everything is loaded in accordance to the order in which it will be removed. Labeling your boxes can also protect your belongings from damage by allowing the movers to know where the fragile and delicate items are located.
  3. Make a Path - Not only will congested walkways make your move take longer; they also present a major safety hazard for your movers. It is very difficult to carry furniture over scattered household debris. One slip could potentially spell disaster for your movers or your furniture. Remember: Safety first!
  4. Be Realistic - An unfortunate truth is: Many of us just have too much stuff. The quote that your movers provided for a one bedroom studio apartment is useless if have enough stuff to fill a three bedroom home. Because there is no surefire way to determine how long your move will last it is up to the customer to divulge as much information as possible in order to assist your movers with providing an accurate quote and ultimately, getting the job done within that time frame.

  5. If you follow these general guidelines while preparing for your upcoming move, you should be rewarded with a fast move and a bill that is within your budget. The task may seem daunting at first but paying close attention to the small details now will ensure that you do have to pay out in the future.
